Los Angeles won my heart about 10 years ago when I visited for a corporate meeting. At the time, I did not have an overwhelmingly big budget and had to settle for a small hotel with the basics. That did not matter, though, because I fell in love with the warm weather, the fast-paced spirit, and the gorgeous beaches of the city. I stayed in downtown LA (DTLA) and was able to walk to many of my destinations, which meant I got to explore and discover new stores and restaurants.
In the mornings, I walked to Bottega Louie, a patisserie with beautifully colored macarons that lined the display counters, for coffee and a sweet pastry. Because I worked in the fashion industry at the time, one of my primary purposes was to visit select denim factories cutting and sewing the items that would eventually land on the selling floor of major department stores. These amazing facilities were not overwhelmingly huge; instead, they were usually small warehouses. It was always so amazing to me that, from the outside, you could not even imagine a world of work was taking place on the inside.
Although that was a long time ago, L.A. remains a vibrant destination with much to do and see. Whether you are traveling for work or leisure, here are some of the most well-regarded hotels for every type of traveler.
