Updated May 8, 2023 by Nikole Stewart: Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together has gained a resurgence in popularity recently, and rightfully so as it is arguably one of the best indie survival games. Klei Entertainment has continuously updated the game to provide fans with ample amount of new content and characters to try out. And with new characters comes new perks and unique personalities.

One essential key to each character, however, is the need to eat. Unfortunately, not all characters are easy to please. Some characters have dietary restrictions, or are a bit picky when it comes to their food choices, making the game even harder. But thankfully, there’s enough great food sources that players can pick from to provide the best sustenance to their characters. This is a continuation and a reworking on the best food sources that players can make. Please should also note that some characters have special boosts with some recipes depending on preference.

And players that want to kick up a notch, the Puffed Potato Souffle can instead use Cooked Sweet Potatoes and create Ratatouille which further increases its healing attributes. There are also Don’t Starve Together mods that can help players craft this food source by the bulk.

This food source requires 2x Barnacles and 2x Vegetables, which are easy to obtain, especially once the player has a Barnacle and Potato Farm. The only downside of preparing Barnacle Linguine is that it has a short shelf life (6 Days), meaning it’s not suitable for long trips.

However, players only need to use 1 raw mandrake in the crock pot and 3 fillers, but will put players to sleep. So while it is such a great item if players are desperate, it can be a tedious meal to prepare.

But for players that are desperate in needing an extra buffer when wandering around and find a Mandrake, this could be a game changer item for sure. Mandrakes can be found in Grasslands and in Caves, and are usually grouped together. If players pick these during the day, they will die and be gained as an item, which then can be cooked.
